The tapes feature an aircraft aluminum case, alloy steel main shaft, and a nylon coated blade for added durability. The Spencer tapes with Release Nails are specialized logger's tapes. They have a flexible Dymax 19" extension which is designed to help protect the blade and endhook from kinking and breaking if rewound into the case too quickly.
Spencer logger tapes and diameter tapes are often broken in the field due to twisting, kinking or cutting. Replacing them is a fairly simple process and can be done in the field with a small screwdriver. Refills come bare (without nails or an attachment screw), so be sure to order those parts separately if needed
