Impressive small log sawmill

I bought the Alaskan G777 sawmill to mill some 8” - 14” diameter dead ash trees. I cut the logs 4 ft. long. I also bought an Oregon solid steel 20” powercut bar 3/8 x .050 x 72 link and an Oregon rip cut 3/8 x .050 x 72.
I put these on a Stihl MS271 Farmboss 50cc.
I had to change out the .325 x7 drive sprocket to a 3/8 x 7 but that was very easy to do.
I wasn’t sure how straight the sawmill would cut because the nose of the blade isn’t supported but let me tell you that I was very impressed. I cut the boards 1” thick and they were within 1/16” end to end and side to side.
The sawmill was easy to assemble and it’s easy to use. Do yourself a favor and make a stand to hold your logs so you aren’t on your knees or hunched over. I attached a couple vee notched boards to saw horses and fastened a stop on one end to keep the log from moving forward. I made over 50 cuts before the chain needed a little sharpening. Milling produces a lot of sawdust, I mean wheel barrow fulls. 👍👍

As advertised

Do listen to recommended saw specs. I tried it with my little saw and it was very tedious. Attached the mill frame to a more powerful saw and it worked very well. Little one might work on pine, but Def not ash. Great product!
