I recently picked up the Oregon 11H057E Harvester Saw Chains from American Forestry, and let me tell you — these chains are sharper than my mother in laws tongue.

From the moment I slapped this chain on my saw, I knew I was in for a wild ride. First cut? Smooth as butter. Second cut? I started feeling like Paul Bunyan — if Paul Bunyan had a degree in precision forestry. By the third cut, I half-expected the trees to start falling over on their own out of sheer respect.

Durability? This chain laughs in the face of knots and tough wood. I’ve put it through enough abuse to make a lumberjack weep, and it’s still sharp enough to shave with (though I wouldn’t recommend that — unless you’re looking for an extreme makeover).

And the speed? Let’s just say I’ve spent more time tying my boots than cutting through logs with this chain. It bites into wood like a beaver on meth.

I live off-grid in a cabin in the woods. I got the PCW-4000 to resupply in the winter, (and for logging) and I had to get 240 lbs up a long, steep drive so icy at bottom that I had to hookup the load on my hands and knees. This winch pulled the load up about as fast as it took hike to the hilltop. It won't matter if I have 6 feet of snow or a sheet of ice in the years to come; this winch is handle it. And there's a lot more firewood that I'll be able to get out the woods now too. Then there's the trees next to my cabin that need to come down. This winch gives me a tool to bring them down in the right direction. All-in-all: worth it's weight in gold!
